Hello! My name Emma, I am a Certified Functional Nutrition and Lifestyle Practitioner, and I am so grateful to be able to connect with you! My health journey started at a young age, with an intense birth followed by eczema, allergies, asthma, and many rounds of antibiotics. Growing up, I could sense that something in my body wasn’t right. I went to countless doctors, only to be met with the response “its all in your head” or “here, try this medication!” I lived in sickness, as I continued to acquire more diagnoses and medications along the way.

Going into college I was on antidepressants and was struggling with an eating disorder. I had been diagnosed with Celiac Disease but had no support for how to actually follow the correct diet, and was pretty much constantly nauseous and exhausted. Despite much struggle, I earned my B.S. in Human Biology and B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Albany. Through those years it became clear to me that our bodies have immense healing abilities, we just need to figure out a way to listen to them.

After college, I started working for a company doing Cell Culture for Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing. It was just what people did after getting their biology degree…get a stable job, a nice apartment, take vacations, why not right?! It sort of went like that! I learned so much about the pharmaceutical industry, while using the freedom I had to get my own shit together! It didn’t take me long to realize although these drugs I was manufacturing were helping people, what was the long term plan? Are these children on our medications going to be medicated for life? Honestly, I got angry…and I got to work to try to do my part.

I searched for the answers for my own body and further my education through becoming a Certified Health and Life Coach, which led me to Functional Nutrition. Functional Nutrition can be summed up with this quote from my teacher Andrea Nakayama, “everything is connected, we are all unique, and all things matter.” I learned what goes on in the body in response to environment, food, lifestyle habits, and how we can use this knowledge to find the root of the problem and overtime, heal. I fell in love with the work I was doing on myself and with clients support their journey in overcoming chronic illnesses such as acid reflux, IBS, eczema, and more.

To further support my clients, I sought out ways to enhance the connection between mind, body, and spirit. This led me to becoming a certified yoga instructor, reiki practitioner, and breath-work facilitator. When i work with clients, I go through a detailed health history and focus on listening as most chronic illness sufferers have not been listened to their entire life. From there we build a bridge and I support my clients as we cross it. Together, we consider everything from nutrition to lifestyle, to form lifelong habits that leave my clients feeling empowered and trusting in their bodies.
